Hi Everyone!

Welcome to Messy Church! Even though sadly we can't meet together today, we have lots of fun activities for you here to do at home!

We hope you enjoy taking part in this new way of being Messy Church!

Watch: The Story of Easter - Jesus' Sacrifice by Saddleback Kids

This video clip describes why we celebrate Easter, looking at what Jesus did especially for us!

Now watch this clip from Lady and the Tramp

Lady and Tramp were both enjoying their separate lives until change happened - a new life, a baby. This changed everthing for them both - Tramp helped Lady through this change and in doing so gained a new life for himself. We are going through a time of change in our world, will we reach out and help others, be grateful for what we do have, and look for joy in the change that it brings?

Have you seen a new baby or new baby animals? They are so cute and full of potential! Why not check out Coombes lambing live and see all the new baby lambs.

The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if we choose to believe that Jesus is the Son of God, who came to earth to die for our wrongs, and are sorry for the wrongs in our lives, then we can become new creations - we are given new life! How wonderful to have the chance to live life differently!

Will you choose to follow Jesus?

Chat through the Take Home sheet.

Today in Messy Church Easter 2020

Sing: Alive by Vineyard Kids

Let's be thankful for all we have in our lives right now, and pray for those who are ill, who have lost their lives, or loved ones.

Action Song Competition: You may have noticed that last week I put out a post asking you to vote on your favourite new Easter song. Well the winning song is...

Tell the World!

We need to learn these new actions, so get practising! If you would like, send your actions into us to somptingcommunitychurch.yandc@gmail.com or fill in the form below.

In close second came We are Free.   It would be great to learn this song too at some point but we need some actions, so please have a listen and send in your action ideas to somptingcommunitychurch.yandc@gmail.com   or fill in the form below and the best moves will be chosen to put together!

Egg Rolling Race: Each player has an egg each, make a starting point and roll (push, not throw) the egg along to see which goes the furthest! (See video) If you want to add some maths in then why not measure how far each egg rolled and work out the difference!

Make:

The Messy Church team have been coming up with lots of crafts ideas for you all to have a go at making at home.

Please feel free to adapt these to suit you and the resources you have at home to use.

Butterflies: Butterflies - Jesus rose from the dead, brought us new life and changed the world. Make a butterfly by following the instructions and, using colouring pencils, write on it your hopes for the world.

Easter Eggs: Draw the outline of an Easter egg either free hand or using either a stencil or an oval shape, scrunch up little bits of tissue paper and glue them on or colour the egg in with lots of bright colours. You could even draw the shape of a cross on them.

Bunny Basket: See the photo for an idea to make a bunny basket.

Bunny using loo roll inners: Use three empty loo rolls to make a stencil of a bunny's face and ears and then use this to paint little bunnies.

Easter Chicks: Either draw a chick and colour or use a fork to paint a fluffy chick!

He Is Risen  Plates : Use a paper plate or a piece of paper, draw around your hand and draw a cross in the front to show that Jesus is no longer dead on the cross, He has risen!

Empty Tomb Biscuits: Ice a biscuit, stick a jammy dodger (if you have one!) on the top with either a mini egg or ball of icing in front.

Messy Easter Biscuit Tombs

Cress Egg Heads: If you have some cress seeds and eggs(!) why not grow some cress in the empty egg shells, draw a face on the egg and see their 'hair' growing!

Messy Easter Cress Heads

Wool Easter Eggs: If you are up for a bit more of a challenge, wrap wool or string soaked in glue around a balloon, leave it to dry and then pop the balloon and you should end up with a lovely hollow egg - if you make several then you can make bunting with them by threading wool or string through them.
